dancing in the still point on the spiral journey of life

Moonday Musings

Body cells replace themselves every month.  Even at this very moment.  Most everything you know about me is nothing more than memories. ~ Haruki Murakami

What you know about me is what I’m willing to share.  What I know about you is what you tell me.  If I can’t see your face or hear your voice then by default I depend on your words.  There are the visual images that I share as well.  This picture wasn’t taken today but would you know that if I didn’t tell you?  You might, if you know what phase the moon is in right now (almost dark).  Our trees still have leaves but not for long.  This morning’s dawn was a similar color. The sunshine brightens the ridge to the west of our house.

I live surrounded by beauty. Nature changes every day and what we know is nothing more than memories as well. By paying attention, though, we can notice how nature affects us.  If you live in the northern hemisphere, the light is receding and the temperatures are dropping.  Plants and trees are changing colors in preparation for hibernation.  The moon is waning and will be dark on Wednesday.  It’s the end of another cycle.

This can be a time of letting go.  Is there anything you need to let go of right now?  Is there a cycle coming to completion?

What a beautiful photo! DId you take it?
I love this season of endings. I too feel it’s really the season of letting go.

I love that you brought up the concept of how little we actually know about one another. The masks and defences are all there to keep us safe, to keep others at a comfortable distance. Even when you can see faces and hear voices, that’s no indicator of more vulnerability. We can only know what information is given, what we can accurately perceive. That goes for the world around us as well as for individuals. It’s both frustrating and fascinating to think that there is always something secret kept back, even in the most intimate of relationships.

I’m letting go of the need to be anything but who I actually am. Thanks for this, Loran. The photograph is gorgeous.

We are works in progress. The more comfortable we are within ourselves, the more authentic we can be with others!
