Have you ever painted a tree? Curtis Killorn did and he inspired me.
I’ve been thinking about it for months. I bought spray paint weeks ago. This morning the sun was out and I thought, “Today is the day!” I headed out with a ladder, primer and six cans of paint. I had to break off a lot of extraneous branches in order to give the tree a cleaner look. I used a ladder but the top of the tree was just too high to reach safely.
After pulling off old bark and priming the tree, I started spraying. About that time the wind started to kick up and clouds darkened the sky. I carried on. We have three llamas who live in the pasture. They weren’t too interested in what I was doing but our two kittens were. They came out to play for awhile. Skipper, our miniature Schnauzer, got bored and left.
Once everything was painted I had to stand back at a distance to evaluate the colors. I added more here and there until it looked just right. I have neighbors who will probably wonder why on earth I would paint a tree. I felt wildly eccentric and enjoyed it!
I’ve been thinking about what I can do to bring more joy, peace and healing to the world. It seems that in opening my heart to new possibilities and experiences that creative experiences are increasing. Art, spirituality, and love are the forces that inspire me.
What inspires you? What fills you up (besides chocolate, of course!)
